Hi folks,
It is confirmed that you CAN buy an iPhone 3G directly from the Apple retail stores (not online) and choose to activate from home, rather than in store. It is reported that the iTunes (iPhone) activation servers have gone down during the first few hours of the iPhone 3G.
Don't get too happy yet for the folks in Singapore, because this is what you need to buy an iPhone 3G from the retail stores as stated on the Apple Where to Buy webpage:
To purchase and activate iPhone 3G, you need the following:*
▪ Credit card
▪ Social security number
▪ Valid government-issued photo ID
▪ Current wireless account number and password or PIN (if you’re new to AT&T)
With the little information I have gathered, most of the operators don't deliver outside their country. VPOST might be the solution but you might need a credit card that is from a bank in that country.
Bottom line: it's not easy to get an iPhone 3G and the message from Apple so far seems to be "it's coming to your country soon, wait for it"
Will be back when I get more news.
